Public Safety Funding Committee

The Public Safety Funding Committee assists in the management of Public Safety Funding allocated by the Legislature to specifically address public safety issues posed by adults with developmental disabilities. All funding for public safety needs that meet the criteria outlined in the State System of Care Plan for Developmental Disabilities Services public funding criteria shall come from the public safety fund. If public safety funding is insufficient for individuals who meet the criteria, a decision may be made to access New Caseload Funding.  It is not a State System of Care Plan funding priority to use new or existing caseload funding to prevent a person who has been convicted of a crime from going to jail or to prevent charges from being filed.

The Designated Agencies and Specialized Service Agencies will use the standard Equity/Public Safety Request for Funding Form and the  Equity/Public Safety Budget Form  when applying for funding on behalf of a new or existing service recipient.  The forms are sent to the Division.   The Funding Committee makes a recommendation regarding funding, and the final decision is made by the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD).  Decisions are sent, in writing, to the provider as soon as it is practical following the Committee meetings.

Committee Membership

The Public Safety Funding Committee is made up of two Designated Agency and/or Specialized Service Agency staff; one Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) staff; and two other interested individuals.

Meeting Schedule

Committee meetings will be held monthly with provisions for emergency decisions as necessary between regularly scheduled meetings.
