The Standardized Assessment Workgroup is focused on the adoption of a uniform, standardized assessment tool for determining what services individuals need. The workgroup will review assessment tool options, considerations of transitioning to a new tool and the process for implementation.

Contract Awarded for Independent Needs Assessment
A request for proposals (RFP) for an independent organization to conduct needs assessments for individuals in DDS was posted on September 16, 2020. DAIL received and reviewed seven bids for the contract. On March 29, 2021, the Department signed a five year contract with Public Consulting Group (PCG) to perform the assessments. They will be using the Supports Intensity Scale-Adult to perform assessments. PCG began conducting assessments on July 1, 2021. They will be hiring and training staff and working with the Department on the implementation of the new process for assessments. The Standardized Assessment Workgroup will now be reconvened to provide input on implementation. The initial 500-700 assessments conducted by PCG will be used as information to help design the future payment model. The current process for needs assessments will continue until a new payment model is designed
