Imagine the Future Task Force (2013 - 2014)

The Developmental Disabilities Services Imagine the Future Task Force was charged with creating a long-range strategic vision for Developmental Disability Services in Vermont.  The outcome of the strategic vision was to determine the best next steps for bridging the present challenges with the future vision.  This planning process involved a partnership among Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL), service providers, persons with disabilities and their families, advocates, and other stakeholders.  The plan was to support the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and their communities through sustainable models of delivery and payment, aligned with anticipated but unknown changes to health and payment reform over the next two (2) decades.

The Strategic Plan:

  • Took into consideration the results of the DDS Summer Legislative Work Group.
  • Rendered its opinion about the Work Group's recommendation, the DDS Imagine the Future Task Force provided its conclusion as to if and how it will support any of the following options in the SFY 15 System of Care Plan Development:  Revised methods of developmental service case planning and oversight; Identification of alternate practices, resulting in more cost-effective use of the resources available for developmental services; and/or Other strategies to meet necessary outcomes.
  • Determine whether any of the Designated Agency Local System of Care Plan activities should be included in the State System of Care Plan; and made specific recommendations to the State for inclusion in the SFY 15-17 State System of Care Plan about what is needed to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through sustainable models of delivery and payment aligned with health reform and payment reform (currently unknowns).
